Fresh, funny, cheeky. This way Verena Kerth moderate today like every Saturday from 10am till 6pm on Radio Energy. With her very own special nature she interviewed for the BILD-Serial Munich celebrities. Asked them what you ever wanted to know. At the end of the serial the guitarist of Scorpions Matthias Jabs.

Verena: Tell me, do you still have all shirts from your gigs?

Matthias: I made a mistake to save them in the garage. They got moist and I had to trash most of them. Worse luck! What I really would like to have is a shirt from the very first Open Air in the USA.

Verena: Are there a “Shirt-Exchance” between the bands? (After soccer games the players exchange the shirts with the other team)

Matthias: I never saw that. Would be a good idea.

Verena: When you´ll be on tour again?

Matthias: From April on we´ll tour France, Russia, Greek and for sure USA. Germany we neglected a bit, but we want to change it.

Verena: A lot of people come to see you, or?

Matthias: Last time in South America there were 153,000 fans on 15 concerts. Also in India and naturally in USA it´s amazing.

Verena: What´s the most beautiful place you´ve ever played?

Matthias: We played in New Caledonia in a preserved amphitheater inside of a rock. Behind it was the Pacific Ocean. With lukewarm 30°C (86° F). This was amazing.

Verena: You´re a real rock star. Have you ever thrown a TV out of the hotel room on tour?

Matthias: Not myself. But 10 years before a colleague from the band did it in the USA. Unfortunately, the restaurant with the glass roof was below. And that the hotel boss was enjoying his meal there when the TV crashed through the roof. We were not allowed to stay there for a while.

Verena: Cool! And have you ever smashed a guitar by yourself?

Matthias: Last time on a festival in Sweden I´ve chipped the neck of the guitar. There was no reason for it. I just was in bad mood. Lucky, that the mechanic could fix it.

Verena: Wouldn´t be so bad as much guitars as you have.

Verena was looking around, admires all the guitars at the walls. Among many individual pieces worth several thousand Euros.

Verena: Do you have more guitars than me shoes?

Matthias: I´ve 140 guitars.

Verena: In that case not quite. I only have 200 pairs of sneakers. You co-ordinate your guitars to your outfit?

Matthias: Sure. I like stripes. Therefore I let tailor my clothes. On the other hand I just have some guitars only for their look.

Verena: You´re a real guitar fetishist. That´s why you opened your shop in the Pariser Strasse?

Matthias: Nope. I created my guitars by myself since 5 years. People want to buy them. First via Internet and since one year also here in the shop.

Verena: Where are your customers?

Matthias: From normal musicians till stars like Pink, Bon Jovi and Peter Maffay with his band. They all were already here.

Verena: Does many fans only come here just to play with you?

Matthias: Sure. Some are really talented.

Verena: Would you teach me?

Matthias: Have you ever played?

Verena: At the age of 16 I got some lessons.

Matthias: Then I´ll show you some extra riffs.

Matthias plays “Johnny B. Goode” perfectly. Verena tries to do it also and she´s getting better.

Matthias: It sounds nice. We could tour together soon.

Verena: Well, I think I need some more time. But I´ll practice the riffs till we´ll meet again. Thank you!

Matthias: It was a great pleasure for me!

Thankyou very much for the translation Claudi. I am sad they are not coming to Australia. I agree Scorpions in New Caledonia, Noumea was paradise. Who is Peter Maffay??? That is sad Matthias lost his t-shirt collection from his own concerts. Matthias dresses very nicely.
